If you are considering a graduate degree, a BS in chemistry will help prepare you for medical or pharmacy school, law school dental school and more. In fact, graduate programs in Chemistry are fully-funded. Graduate programs in chemistry pay tuition and a salary. Many of these programs provide medical benefits and good students often receive additional stipends for books and fees.

South offers a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. Covering inorganic, organic, analytical, physical and biological chemistry, our courses prepare you for graduate school, an industry career or biomedical research.

Research

Many of our students work on research projects one-on-one with faculty mentors as early as their freshman year. Students present their research at conferences, and coauthor articles in peer-reviewed journals.

Laboratory Information

The department houses 17 research labs, nine instructional labs, and one computer lab. You will find an abundance of modern instrumentation. We prioritize the acquisition and maintenance of state-of-the-art equipment.
