Flutist Andra Bohnet, Professor of Music, will present her Faculty Recital on Tuesday, September 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. The recital will feature two types of works 鈥� chamber music with strings, and then a significant work by a major composer for flute and piano 鈥� Franz Schubert鈥檚 Introduction and Variations on a Theme 鈥淚hr B眉mlein Alle,鈥� op. 160. The Schubert is a tour de force for both the flutist and pianist. Dr. Robert Holm, who will be playing piano said, 鈥淭his is a piece that has been on my bucket list for a long time,鈥� and Dr. Bohnet replied, 鈥渢he piano part is so challenging nobody has ever wanted to play it before,鈥� thus the occasion for this performance.

As for the "chamber music with strings" portion of this concert, composer David Ott will conduct both Vivaldi鈥檚 Concerto No. 2 in G minor, 鈥淟a Notte,鈥� RV 439  and his own Concerto for Alto Flute and Strings with Bohnet and a group of Mobile Symphony and 欲漫涩 faculty string players. 鈥淚t is so exciting to be performing a work like this under the baton of the composer,鈥� said Bohnet, 鈥渁nd I just love playing the alto flute! And the Vivaldi is lagniappe!!"

Tickets for this Musical Arts Series event will be sold at the door only. Admission is $8 general and $5 for 欲漫涩 faculty & staff, 欲漫涩 students, youths under 18 and all senior citizens (card or cash accepted). Musical Arts Series season passes will of course be honored for admission to this event.
