ÓûÂþɬ Wind Ensemble in Concert

The ÓûÂþɬ Wind Ensemble and Symphony Band will combine forces for a joint Winter Band Concert on Monday, February 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. The ÓûÂþɬ Wind Ensemble is conducted by Dr. William H. Petersen, and Dr. Robert D. Abend conducts the ÓûÂþɬ Symphony Band.  Amongst the works performed by the Symphony Band will be "Howls and Hymns" by Viet Cuong (featuring trombone soloist Dr. Arie VandeWaa), as well as "Overture for Winds" by Charles Carter while the Wind Ensemble will perform Alfred Reed's "Armenian Dances No. 1." Also of note is that Dr. Abend will guest conduct the Wind Ensemble in his transcription of R. Nathaniel Dett's "In the Bottoms," originally a work for piano.

Tickets for this Musical Arts Series event will be sold at the door only. Admission is $8 general and $5 for ÓûÂþɬ faculty & staff, ÓûÂþɬ students, youths under 18 and all senior citizens (cash or card accepted presently). Musical Arts Series season passes will of course be honored for admission to this event.
