"Space - The Final Frontier" -- Andra Bohnet, Faculty Flute Recital, September 2

On Tuesday, September 2 at 7:30 p.m. flutist Andra Bohnet will present her Faculty Recital at the University of South Alabama Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. Bohnet will be joined by new Assistant Professor pianist Jasmin Arakawa, making her Musical Arts Series debut, and the members of the Silverwood Quartet -- Tom Morley, violin, Jonathan Clark, viola and guitar and Barbara Gabriel, cello.
 
All of the works on the program for the evening have a whimsical connection to the celestial! The centerpiece of the concert is a blockbuster for flute and piano entitled 鈥淗atching Aliens鈥� by Ian Clarke. The work is highly cinematic and very exciting with many special effects for both the flutist and pianist -- think Spielberg! Other highlights for the evening include Gary Schocker鈥檚 鈥淪onata for a Lost Planet鈥� for alto flute and piano and the Silverwood Quartet鈥檚 epic arrangement of the iconic 鈥淪tairway to Heaven.鈥� The rest will include references to the moon, stars, infinity and beyond!
 
Tickets for this Musical Arts Series event will be sold at the door only.  Admission is $8 general and $5 for 欲漫涩 faculty & staff, 欲漫涩 students, youths under 18 and all senior citizens (cash or check only).  Persons needing more information about this event or in need of special accommodation may call (251) 460-7116 or (251) 460-6136.

Musical Arts Series Season Pass Holders may now reserve their place at concerts if they contact events coordinator Keith Bohnet by 5:00 p.m. the day previous to the event!  Call (251) 460-7116 or email kbohnet@southalabama.edu.  Please mention the amount of seats needed AND be sure you are planning on being in place at least 20 minutes in advance of the concert!  (Pass Holders only please!  Held seats not claimed within 20 minutes of the performance may be offered to other concert attendees.)
